2010 Calendar of Events


OPEN NOW THROUGH JULY 2010 - Dolls, Dollhouses and Miniatures: Come and experience the wonders of childhood with a special, two month long exhibit at the Amos J. Blake House Museum. Your presence is requested, from the seasonal opening on Saturday, May 29th through the last Saturday in July. Hidden lollipops can be found among the fairy houses for visiting children. This uniquely beautiful former home of the Blake family of Fitzwilliam NH will display unique and wonderful pieces, mostly from private collections. There will be dollhouses from the 1920s as well as handmade accessories for the houses, Harry Potter, Brue and Matroyshka dolls, one of a kind artist dolls including dolls from the Robert Tonner collection, Native American style “Winnie” dolls, baby dolls, fairy houses plus dolls from the museum collection. This delightful collection will not disappoint. There will be a sign up sheet for those wishing to form a Dollhouse and Miniature Club.

Tours of the museum are always

June 26th, 2010, Annual Strawberry Festival: The Fitzwilliam Historical Society will hold it’s highly anticipated Annual Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 26, 2010, on the Historic Town Common from 1:00-4:00 pm, rain or shine. We will treat you with luscious strawberries, fresh whipped cream, delightful lemonade and homemade biscuits! Live music will entertain and delight you under sheltering tents. Please join us!

The Amos J. Blake House Museum, on the Common across the street, will be open for free guided tours during this time with a special exhibit: “Dolls, Dollhouses & Miniatures” featuring original and collectible pieces from private collections, displayed on both floors. The live band is called “Friendly Folk”. They play a wide range of traditional folk and contemporary acoustic music including Celtic song, sea shanties, originals and a bit of country. Instruments are guitars, bass, pennywhistle and harmonica.

Saturday August 14, 2010, Workshop on Pressed Flower Arrangements: Trudy Harper of Keene will conduct a workshop on Pressed Flower Arrangements on Saturday, August 14th at 1 pm. You must sign up at least one week in advance for this wonderful event. This event will take place in the Tavern Room of the Amos J. Blake House Museum.
Limit: 12 people
Cost: $15 per person, all materials included, non-refundable

Halloween Open House, Saturday October 30, 2010: Our Annual Halloween Open House will take place during regular Trick or Treat hours for the town. Children and their parents are welcome to drop by for quick treats and refreshments. Look for the witches across the street from the Common!


Free guided tours of the Amos J. Blake House Museum are offered by trained docents from 1:00-4:00 pm during the Antiques Show. Our special exhibit this year is Dollhouses & Dolls, mentioned above.
